Klaipeda is located 318 km west from Vilnius and is the third largest city in Lithuania with a population of 205,000. The city is built on the very southern seashore of the Baltic Sea, where the Curonian lagoon connects the sea.
At the present time Klaipeda is not only one of the largest fishing ports next to the Baltic Sea but also a major cultural centre of Lithuania. Of special interest is the Maritime Museum and an aquarium that boasts thousands of exhibits from many seas and oceans around the world.
